Fire
Inspection Fees
Support measures and provide recommendations to adjust fire
inspection fees without decreasing the fire department’s
revenues.
Increase of
fire inspection fees (February 2006)
The Chamber
supports the recommended increase in fire inspection fees. The
fire department has moved to reduce fire inspection fees for
small businesses (1,000-2,000 sq.ft.) from $53-$39. The reason
for the reduction is because the fire department has been able
to streamline its inspection process thus reducing the time
involved in the inspection.
The fire
department is charging based on how much time is needed for the
project the cost for Hospitals, Nursing Homes, and any Mental
Health Facility have the possibility of being charged up to
$900. Apartment/Hotels/Motels are also facing similar increases
due to the size and number of units.
